Wayne Sims, Principal brings more than 25 years of experience in business management and human resources to Sims Associates. He began his career as an industrial engineer with The Travelers Insurance Companies and progressed to Vice President of Human Resources for Connecticut based manufacturing companies Unimin, Amphenol, and GP Lithium Batteries. Wayne founded Sims Associates in 1995 to provide clients with highly personalized and responsive search capabilities. His background includes labor relations, executive recruiting, mergers/acquisitions, and employee benefits. Wayne earned a B.A. in English from Bates College and an M.A. in Administration from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. He is also a Vietnam era veteran. His functional specialties include manufacturing, engineering, and administration.
Michelle L. Martens, Vice President has enjoyed a progressive career in human resource management, strategic planning and finance with a number of Fortune 500 Companies. Her early business career was spent as a Corporate Lending Officer for a major New York City. Michelle then progressed into strategic planning and later, human resources for organizations such as Bristol-Myers Company, Kennecott Copper Company, General Electric and Pitney Bowes as well as, on the Not-for-Profit side, for Save the Children. Her formal academic training includes a B.S. in Economics and Business from Russell Sage College, Troy, N.Y., an M.B.A. from New York University's Stern School of Business and course work at Harvard Business School. Her functional specialties include finance, administration, sales/marketing and administration.
Gary Roscoe, Vice President possesses more than 25 years of Human Resources experience. He has held senior leadership positions in a variety of different company settings ranging from start-up ventures to fully mature organizations. His formal education includes a BA, English from Fairfield University and additional studies at Suffolk University School of Law. Gary has gained a broad perspective on the balanced needs of company and employee alike. His professional experience includes staffing (executive, technical and volume), strategic planning, training and development, employee relations, union relations and avoidance, succession planning, career counseling, and compensation & benefits program design and analysis. He has created and presented a variety of management training programs for implementation at numerous venues. He has also been a strategic team member in a number of acquisitions. Gary’s work experience includes successful tenures as Vice President, Human Resources for US Operating Services Company, a major distributor in the southeast; Senior Consultant to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (Department of Defense); and Director, Human resources for Spectrum Controls, a multi-location international manufacturing organization. Mr. Roscoe has created and conducted recruiting strategies ranging from searches for vice presidents of IT, engineering, finance and sales to meeting the needs of a start-up company requiring numerous technical, operational, and bio-related employees within a very stringent timeframe. He joined Sims Associates in 2010 to help the firm increase its presence in the southeastern region of the country.
